FACTS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GLOW
Meet the people and the place where India’s first light begins.
Dong is where India wakes up first! Here, the sun rises before anywhere else in the country
At the Sunrise Festival, you get to welcome the very first dawn of the year with meditation, Surya Namaskar, and breathtaking mountain horizons. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment — a spiritual reminder that every new beginning starts with light.
The Meyors (also known as Zekhring)
Are one of Arunachal Pradesh’s smallest indigenous tribes — warm-hearted, deeply spiritual, and guardians of Dong Valley. Their traditions honour the Sun as a life-giver, and every guest is treated like family. Through their stories, food, songs, and rituals, you’ll feel a genuine cultural connection that stays long after you leave.
Here, sustainability isn’t a trend — it’s tradition.
The Meyor way of life is in harmony with the land: bamboo utensils, zero-waste practices, clean water sources, and nature-guided living. The festival proudly follows the “No Trash, No Trace” ethos — ensuring the mountains stay as pure as the sunrise they greet.
The Sunrise Festival wasn’t designed in a boardroom — it was born from the mountains, forests, and the Sun itself.
Every experience — from sunrise treks to cultural performances — is crafted with purpose and respect for the land’s spirit. This New Year, don’t just count down the seconds… claim the first light and carry home a memory made by nature.
